I was going through some 1965 issues of Gun`s and Hunting magazines
for interesting articles before I got rid of them when I came across an Al Goerg story that I did not have... With 32 of his handgun articles in a 3 ring binder and his two books I figured I had most if not all of what he wrote on handguns so it was a pleasant surprise to find the 6mm story..... In it he describes how his gunsmith in Port Angeles, Washington install`s a 6mm Douglas barrel along with all the work involved in changing the XP from .221 to 6mm... Hoping any admirers of Goerg`s work with single shots will find this interesting....

Good read, James. I believe that one was with him when he crashed and was recovered.

From what I could make out reading the article. I believe it is chambered for the 244 Remington, or better known now days as the 6mm Remington. Just a tough more powerful than a 243. This cartridge came out in I believe 1955. So it was a pretty new round at the time this story was written, "1965".
That would have been a very unique handgun at the time.

Bob

James, you wouldn't happen to have this in PDF format or something you could e-mail would you. On my crappy little screen and old computer I can't read it.
