I have a CVA Scout in 44mag and I was wondering if it would hold up if it was reamed out to 445 Super Mag or maybe even 444 marlin? Can the CVA Scout handle those pressures? Has anybody done this?

I bought the CVA because I got a good deal on it. But I decided I would rather have the 44mag in a revolver so I bought a 7.5in SRH. Now I?m just trying to figure out something to do with the CVA instead of getting rid of it.

I have no doubt that it will handle 445 Super Mag or 444 Marlin.
The CVA in rifle configuration comes in all sorts of Hi Power Rifle chambering's.
I am not sure which way I would go. Brass is available from Starline for both the 445 Super Mag 250/$152.50 and 444 Marlin 250/$150. So Brass Cost will not be a factor.
My guess is that either chambering is capable of generating all the recoil that you can enjoy with the CVA plastic grip.
The big 444 will need large amounts of rifle powder such as H322.
The Super Mag will need pistol powder such as H110 or 300MP for full house loads.

Dropping a 444 in the chamber at the Range would be a lot more impressive looking :).

Either should work fine.

My vote is the .445 Super Mag. I have one in a Contrnder and absolutely love the cartridge.

I have thought off that also with the 444. My hunting buddy has a encore 15in 444 marlin and I have shot it a few times and it?s not what I would consider enjoyable to shoot. That?s the biggest down side to the CVA Scout is the cheap plastic grip. If it had a rubber grip like my G2 Contender it would be a great fun. I may have to try the 445 though if I can find somebody to team it at a reasonable price.

I had my Scout reamed to 445 SM by David White and it is a great rifle and my loads push 2200 FPS using 225 FTX and 4227 and 296.

Dave White does very good work. He converted my 357 Magnum Scout Pistol to 357 Maximum. I am very happy with it.
I sure wish Tony of Tony's Stocks would put together some wood furniture for them. A 10" Target style Forend with forward Bipod Stud like I have on my Contenders, and a nice feeling grip would make a CVA Scout Pistol Awesome.

David is one of the finest people I know a true gentleman. Outstanding work. Always wanted one of his handguns bit steep for me though

Mike Bellm said he has done the 444 conversion on the scout. I had asked about it last year but wound up having some stuff come up so I couldn?t get it done.
