My Cast Performance bullets arrived today but I?m not loading them until I hear back from the company or one of you guys saying they?re ok. The picture on their website shows blue lube in the grooves. The box my bullets came in has a sticker on the outside that says they are using a ?new proprietary clear lube? for easier loading. I can?t find any evidence of a lube on the bullets and the groove is obviously void of lube.

I?ve called and emailed Cast Performance. Boy, I really wanted to load some of these tonight.

They're lubed. It's a clear coat similar to a powder coat. It works. Shoot them in my .45 Colt loads with no leading and good accuracy. Killed a buffalo with one in October. Pics and story was posted.

I use both the self cast pc'd ones and the store bought CP clear coated one with the same data and throw them together in the same 'box'. Had both with me on that hunt.

NOW I remember reading the story. Forgot or didn?t realize they were the same bullet. Great story by the way.

Is the coating similar to Tumble Lube? Or Something else?

My last batch of NOE 360-180 bullets (Conventional NOT a Tumble Lube Design)I ran them through the Lube/Sizer and put Carnauba Red in the grease groove, then Tumble lubed them with Ben's Liquid Lube Formula, which is a mixture of Lee Liquid Allox 60% and Johnson Liquid Paste Wax 40%.
This blend leaves a hard coat on the bullets, and seems to work very well.

Just wondering what they are using on the bullets that is Clear.

In short Bob, I don't have the foggiest idea. Talking to a couple of guys on a Facebook page I've learned that they are lubed, ready to shoot and aside from poor customer service people seem to like them. It appears they have a super glue type coating on them such as a clear powder coating.

On the advice of several guys here I've loaded a dozen with 27.0 grains of W296 which is in the neighborhood of 1327fps, per published from the ".454 Reloading Page" data. I'll test them for accuracy and tinker if needed. I kind of hope I need to....
