Today was windy and spitting rain when we got to the farm this morning. Weather forecast called for 20 to 50 mph winds and rain today so a covered stand was called for. Sent my son and granddaughter to what we call Mikes stand as it was the last project he and I worked on before the cancer took him from us.They were using an AR in 6.5 Grendel my son and I had built for hogs and deer with a 123gr Amax Hornady factory load. 7;30 I heard a shot and a minute later got a call saying my granddaughter had just shot an 8 point buck.At 10 o clock hear another shot and my son had shot another 8 pt .Both were shot thru the heart lungs and both were pass thru's 1 1/4 exits one at 50 yds one at 70.Pretty neat two bucks within a couple of hours by son and granddaughter with a rifle we built, from a stand built by myself and my brother. It was a good day.Hope Mike was looking down from one of those holes in the floor of heaven, think he would of had a big smile on his face.
