Im really going to focus hunting small game next fall with a 22.
Im going with a single six. Looking for a used on with a 6.5 barrel.
My question is about the accuracy.
Ive heard to to the convertabilty they are not as accurate?
I also heard that the Paco accurzr tool helps
Any thoughts?

My experience with two different single six revolvers is that they are not exceptionally accurate. In both I have gotten better accuracy with the mag cylinder than with the LR. IMHO, the Ruger semiauto 22s are better.

I have both Colt & S&W 22 revolvers that are more accurate than the single six. However, I have not had any work done on any of the 22 revolvers.

I'd go with a Bisley 22LR (not convertible) if in a wheelgun. But if you want an accurate 22LR repeater I would suggest a Ruger MkI, MkII, or MkIII, or the 22/45 versions with an optic:

Id like to find a bisley but they are hard to get.
Missed one a few years ago (new in the box)

Id like to stay with a revolver as Id like to plink with shorts,CB caps etc.
Nice 22/45
I liked that grip frame better than the MKIII

Thanks, it looks and feels better after I milled down the grip and installed wood.

Before:

After:

The new MkIII's already have 1911 style wood grips, big difference in feel.

I agree - go with an auto if it's legal where you live. The single six is not as accurate as some other models.

There is a nice bisley 22 on Ruger forum right now for sale...

If you want a sixgun, buy a sixgun. I have had some REALLY accurate single sixes over the years. My autos are tackdrivers also. The Paco tool is a neat little toy and works pretty well. If you can find one of the old SGB tools, they work well too.

As already noted, the Single-Six Convertible guns tend to shoot better with the Magnum cylinder. That slight disparity in bullet diameter (.222 for the LR, and .224 for the Magnum) I think is the culprit.

I've had an itch to try one of these Buckmark Hunters with a RDS or low powered scope. I like Ruger's .22 pistols (I've owned 6 or 8), but the Browning's I've had and shot seem to always have better out-of-the-box triggers.

I had friend Rob Leahy of Simply Rugged Holsters build a holster for my MKII slabside recently. I REALLY like that gun but found that I rarely carried it while out and about. Figured out it was because I didn't have a holster that I really liked for it. Rob fixed that. This is one of his new lines I think but it carries so well, you don't even feel it on your belt. Highly recommend his holsters as well as ones from Mike Barranti for whatever you choose to buy!
