One of my dream hunts for a while now has been to hunt a shark while scuba diving with a spear gun. Well, I talked to a captain in South Carolina that charters shark, and other fishing, and he agreed to let me try, and was confident he could get me into some good sized sharks...

I was a dive instructor in the Cayman Islands, and have dove with sharks before, and couldn't get the idea of hunting one out of my head. Well, it seems like it would be possible, and actually pretty affordable.

Anyway, it's still in the planning/dreaming phaze, and I havn't approched my wife with the idea yet....but, I think I might start the conversation with, "I hear myrtle beach is beautiful in april..."

So, without a butstock, you guys think it would count as a handgun?

Sure why not. You very well could not fire off your 475 or 500 down there so you have to improvise a little.

Well...there was a time I could hold my breath for 2 1/2 minutes, and free dive to 50 or 60 feet, but not anymore. So, scuba would be a must for me now. There is no where around here to even train for that sort of thing.

But I agree. Free diving would be cooler.

That is a great start, but will likely start rolling downhill like a snowball headed for Hell. As for a handgun kill? Why not! It would make a great post on the braggin board.

Ok so I dont know much about spear gunning for fish. How leathal is a spear gun on something like a SHARK?! I mean deer might live for a minute or two after a well placed shot. Is the spear gun the same way?

MN,

Sounds cool! Let me know if you end up in Myrtle Beach - I'll buy you a celebratory beer when you come back to the docks...

I've hit some pretty big fish with a borrowed .38 bang-stick, I know there are 12 ga. bang-sticks for shark size fishies.

My question is, where do you find a tree to put the stand in?
