Hello to all, I recently purchased an Encore in 7mm08. 15" S/S. My question is what (type and grain bullet) do you run out of this.I will be hunting deer and if a coyote shows up them too but mainly deer.Shots from 30 to 250 yds but mainly close. I'm looking at 120 - 150gr bullets. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't have a 7-08 but use the Nosler BT 120 in my 7-30 Waters and don't see why it shouldn't perform equally as impressive from the '08.

120 NBT combined with H-4895 What an animal does after hit varies on a number of factors, depending on his frame of mind and where you put the bullet. The 120 NBT works!

I have used both 120s and 140s. Accuracy was good with both.

ditto to the ern!
ernie suggested this to me several yrs ago. it sure made my load work up easy with my 15" ss 7-08 encore. it is super accurate with 41.5gr h4895 and the 120gr nosler. actually shoots good from 40-41.5!....not especially selective. i only killed 1 deer with it, mostly because i usually use my contender in 35rem. it was a button buck at an estimated 250yrds(thought it was a doe). made a few lopes n fell over.
it is a must try load.....

140grn speer soft point over 45grns H380 worked great on these guys. Don't know the velocity, but with a 200yrd zero, the drop at 300 is about 9 inches.
Last Year 300yrds
This Year 110yrds
Great choice! I have said it many time, but in my opinion, the 7 08 has the best balance of recoil vs performance. Very shootable, but with the ability to reach out and touch something.
Good luck, and have fun with it!

The powder will vary, you can't go wrong with the Nosler b-tip 120 or 140.

I've got the Encore in 7mm08 and love it. I shoot factory Winchester Supreme NBT 140 gr. With these old eyes I am able to keep 1 to 1 1/2 MOA, which is good enough for me. I have killed deer, hog, javalina, and coyote in the last couple years and now prefere to hunt with it over my rifle. Buddies can't believe a pistol can be that accurate at long range. I'm trying to convert them. Welcome----this place is addicting.
