With the reciprocation of handgun licenses between states, when hunting out of state, which one do you use.

I am not sure of the question that you are asking. If it about hunting with handguns or concealed carry? Out this direction, one does not need a "license" to transport or hunt with a handgun. Concealed carry is another issue.

Unlike New York, here in MN and many other states don't require any license (other than a hunting license) to hunt with a handgun.

Out of state hunting is out of my budget in most cases anyway.

Is this a CCW question?

When hunting in Wyoming last fall I carried my S&W M60 .38 in my pocket. My hunting gun was my XP-100 .308.
If you come to Indiana your permit from any state is good here. No permit is requirred when hunting. You can carry anything or as many as you choose. Open carry with a permit is legal but not recommended. There are too many Nervous Nellies.

It really would help if you listed a state you planned to hunt in. Just too many states and a new set of rules for each one.

He may be referring to the recent passing of the "National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011." H.R.822. Still has to go through the Senate.

Let me clear things up a little,When I hunt out of state, lets say OHIO, I have a UTAH handgun license that reciprocates with OHIO and 28 other states, the Florida license reciprocates with I think 30 states, most of these overlap with Ohio, when I hunt Pennsylvania, I have a carry license and a sportsman permit. all I wanted to know was what license you used to hunt out of state.

Maybe in socialist New York, but in most states a concealed carry permit is not required to carry a handgun openly while hunting. You have to have the appropriate hunting license for the game you are hunting from that state.

The only time that a concealed carry comes into play for hunting, that I know of, is when archery or muzzle loading seasons in Oklahoma it is illegal to carry a handgun openly or concealed unless you have a CCW permit and then you may carry concealed. Other states may have the same law.

Pennsylvania has recently allowed an archer to carry a concealed weapon (with CCW permit) while hunting.

racksmasher, I'm curious as to how you live in NY and have a carry permit for Pennsylvania? I wasn't aware that there was a non-resident CCW permit. Not saying it isn't so. Just asking is all.
