I know you all have a lot more experience than me at hunting boar so I was hoping to get some direction. The eastern sports and outdoor show is coming up and I will be looking to check out a place to go hunt boar on the east coast that is not a preserve. I am not against a preserve if that is my best option, I just prefer a hunt for truly wild animals...however I will say I have not hunted on a preserve so that could be a biased preference.

Any suggestions of places you have had experience with?

Hog Heaven Outfitters, Johnston County, North Carolina

This is a free-ranging hunt and not a gimme.' I hunt there about a half a dozen times a year (normally), and have taken some good hogs there:

Not the east coast but Four County Outfitters puts on a good Texas hog hunt. Hunted there for the last 5 years or so. They should be at the show.

Scratch that....just got back from a 3 day hunt and that place is cleaned out of hogs...in the bad sense...3 days, 4 hunters, only one hog taken. Very little fresh sign and on several occasions we were put in stands that ended up with empty feders.

Thanks!......The story of how the boar was taken is even better.... but I don't want to totally hijack the thread.

The Wilderness in Bedford co. Pa. This is a preserve hunt but you definitely work for your boar. The area my son and I hunted was 175 acres and it was up and down all the time. They really work hard for you to get your hog. Accomidations were great and so was breakfast and lunch. We will go there again in a heartbeat. I have some pictures of our hogs on the bragging board.

Boar hunting oufit? I was going to say khaki cargo pants, Meindl boots and Woolrich coat.....but I can see you were looking for something way different than that!

Sorry this is off topic,

Whitworth,

What did you use in your third picture from the top? I do not recognize it...
